That said, overall battery life remains at 18 hours, or roughly a day's worth of use. The Garmin Forerunner 55 and 245 Music are two less-expensive options worth a look for moderate runners. Those who love the 745's approach but don't need things like music storage, blood oxygen monitoring, or running-cadence analysis can save a significant amount with a Forerunner 45. The Forerunner 245 Music, meanwhile, may be better for those who don't need an altimeter or tracking for hikes and other outdoorsy activities but want to retain the lion's share of 745's activity-tracking features. I'm seriously considering between the Epix and the Fenix 7X, both sapphire.

(FYI, I don't like silver casing and grey bands so the regular editions of any of these models are not up for consideration). The screen is much better and my main reason to get the 7X vs Epix was battery life-my 5X was down to less than a week of usable time if I used GPS at all and I hope the solar help is helpful overall. I don't believe I've seen any reports on the Venu 2 series for burn-in, which is the same screen as Epix. All of which are designed to substantially reduce the chances of burn-in. I'm personally not worried about it in normal usage in 2022 given the measures that have been taken and the lessons learned Garmin has with other units, but ultimately only time will tell.
